Harry Niemela

United States Veteran

Niemela served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a radio operator, ammunitions carrier, and “tunnel rat,” conducting dangerous underground operations. In addition to the Purple Heart, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Mike Petersen

United States Veteran

Petersen's service included, in part, efforts with the Navy Seawolf helicopter Squadron in Vietnam, the most decorated squadron in Navy history. He flew 269 combat missions, receiving 17 Air medals and the Purple Heart. Other active duty tours included serving with the Marine ready reaction force in the Mediterranean and as a flight instructor/flight leader, where he trained Navy and Marine Corps aviators. He served in a reserve capacity after leaving active duty.
